The League of Ireland, for better or worse, has always been a competition that has been dominated by clubs from the Dublin area. With well over a quarter of the country’s population inside County Dublin’s borders, and over half of the Premier Division either in or just next to those borders, it’s easy to see why. But, in the last two weeks, in two of the other most populous cities in the country, developments have been happening that may spell a more serious challenge for the dominance of the Dublin region over time.
